Doing the Most With Your Bedroom

Ahhh, the bedroom. The place where dreams of comfort, mood setting and relaxation fill the mind. But it’s also the place where we often dropped the ball because: 1) you’ll worry about it later because no one can see it; 2) there’s too much other stuff I need to do; 3) THE KIDS!!! or 4) all of the above.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to take a weekend, get the kiddies set up with a home-related activity (you know, ’cause Rona), and put some focus into the place where your rest and peace of mind matters!

Giving your bedroom the life it needs to set you up for cozy success doesn’t take much. It simply starts with you deciding what you in it, and what you don’t. You may want a style that’s simple and minimal or full and layered. What about private time with your spouse or partner? Do you set the stage cuddling up to a movie or TV show before the main event, or are you more into adult fun and games? Deciding how you use the bedroom is just as important as what you decide to put in it.

Take a look at this pretty piece of inspiration. There’s a delicate balance of simplicity and fullness between the bright walls, light wood accents, and plants, and the heavier textures of the rug, bench, and bedding. The combination gives a simple, relaxed experience during the day, but can morph effortlessly into mood-setting scene when needed. Balance, my friends.

So how can you start switching up the atmosphere in your own bedroom? Well, start with deciding on the important elements you want in the room, and incorporate some of these simple upgrades.

  • Paint your walls/ceiling
  • Use wallpaper to create an accent wall
  • Add some new drapes with contrasting hardware color
  • Add a dimmer or soft bulb table lamps to help create different options
  • Use shelving or end tables to store books, electronics, and other bedside items
  • Add a rug to add color, pattern, or texture to the space
  • Change the knobs/pulls on your room, closet, or dresser/wardrobe doors
  • Upgrade your outlets and switches
  • Add pieces of artwork and decor around the room
