Ready for a Close Up: ORC Week 6

I am here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And so you know, I just sang that because it makes me feel good.

Good morning, luv! How are you? I hope your week has been progressing well and has been a lot calmer than mine lol. Between a heavy design week, product/project delays, and swarms of cicadas attacking me whenever I walk out the door, I’ll be glad to have some much needed rest and family time over the weekend. So suffice it to say that Week 6 of the One Room Challenge has been a doozy. But don’t fret. I still have a great update for you. Some of our products have been delayed and the timeline is being pushed back another week. It’s unavoidable, but not unexpected. So let’s take a closer look at some of the pieces we’ll be featuring in the space.

Drapes

Drapes: These beauties are taking me to new heights of love. I found these blue velvet-finish curtains at IKEA, and boy oh boy was it a steal. I was actually in the store to pick up another item, and my eyes fell across these as we browsed by all the drapes. Paired with a nice sheer underneath, these really add such a beautiful touch of luxe to the design that just cannot be ignored.

Wardrobe

Wardrobe: Yes. IKEA came through twice. So here’s the thing: the clients originally had a 6-drawer dresser that sat against the wall. It worked somewhat, but it didn’t really give these clients the type of clothing space they needed, which was really more hanging clothing storage (remember, small closets). So a wardrobe with a couple shelves was a better option. It was also better for the space, since our lady wanted a dedicated vanity area inside the bedroom. And that’s what I call two birds!

Nightstand

Nightstands: Our clients love natural wood (and so do I; I’m super lucky). So incorporating these wooden open nightstands was perfect. I love them because they’re going to add some warmth to the room without overpowering the finished look. The open shelves also allow a continuous visual to the wall and balances the heaviness of the bed. You can thank Etsy for these finds.

And just like that, you’re all up to date! Now, it’s just a matter of finishing the room. Ahh! The end is so near, but there’s still so much to be done.
