Ok, luv. I know. I know. You are not accustomed to people knowing certain details about your life. And I know you especially are not for telling a professional stranger personal information about yourself. I have to say I completely understand. I have my own levels of privacy that I subscribe to, and I’m very consistent with those boundaries. Here’s the thing, though: for a successful space and design process, you need to do it, especially if you’re updating your home. I know you might think that great design just happens based on knowledge of products and space plans, but those beautiful images you see in magazines and on Insta mainly come from getting to intimately know clients, and then solving their problems.

When I’m starting out with a client, I start by asking a series of questions to help me to understand them. The questions vary between very light and superficial things like profession and hobbies, and get more and more personal depending on the space we’re working on. That coupled with some laid back conversations with them helps me identify the best place to start when beginning to propose ideas and solutions for you. Those initial solutions lead to the creation and expansion of a design. Once I can nail down you in the process, everything else will fall in line to help bring about a quality and enjoyable space.

Overall design is one thing, but how do we pull together all those individual ideas and pieces to get that final look? The basis of that comes from you. Knowing how to spend the budget, where to source certain pieces, how to create a space plan; all of that is predetermined by the design plan created based on the information you provide. That’s why I, along with the majority of the industry, begin every process with getting as much information about you, the client, as possible. If you tell me ahead of time that you loathe the process of organization and will end up leaving things out and about around your bathroom, I can anticipate that and provide you with a ultra durable countertop that won’t stain, and simplified storage solutions that don’t require any thought.
I know that level of vulnerability can be uncomfortable, but I also know that the vulnerability leads to something great in the end. And that’s exactly what we designers are here to do. So ponder on it a bit, and then shoot me an email to get started on your project. You know I’m here for you. Talk soon!
