A tale of two styles.

What is your design style?

Well there are two ways to answer this question. On the one hand, there’s the perspective of my personal style. On the other hand, there’s the approach taken with my clients, which focuses on how I achieve a look for them. So let’s just explore both.

When it comes to myself, I’m full on Eclectic. If you don’t know, and Eclectic design style is one that combines multiple elements from different styles, typically more than three. And I am true to that. I honestly like a little Modern, a little Bohemian, a little Traditional, a little Art Nouveau, a little Art Deco, a little Farmhouse, and a couple more thrown in there. I love art and nature and the way geometry mixes with natural lines, so it can’t be helped. With myself, you’re going to get a little bit of everything.

Designing for clients is bit different. First and foremost, it must be noted that, as a designer, I design based on what my clients want or need, and not specific styles. So things can’t necessarily be wrapped up into one style. That said, the majority of my client-focused design can be described as Modern, Glam, Transitional, or Contemporary. Even still I find that some clients will surprise you and ask for something unexpected. Those are fun challenges because it’s a new way to connect with my client and creativity.

Any thoughts on your design style? Here’s a nice way to discover yours.
