Write about doing laundry, dishes, and other cleaning activities.

Ok, here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to write about a cleaning win. Could I have kept that little statement to myself and just started writing? Sure, but I didn’t want to, and that’s freeing. So, on to the win.

Here’s the backstory. I live in an old row home, where the previous owner was not as… selective as I am with regard to who worked on the house. Through the years, I’ve found a bunch of funky workaround fixes and that includes the water valves in the basement where I use my washer and dryer. One day, the cold water valve started spurting water, and when my husband tried to replace it, we found that the wrong-size piece was welded onto the pipe. (For why?!) So, while we worked out finding someone to fix it, we’ve been having to deal with cutting the valve on and off and dripping water for what feels like forever.

Well that made doing laundry even more of a chore than it already is. I would have to go down, turn on the water, adjust hoses so that the dripping water would drip into the utility sink, and then have two catch pans underneath for any water that didn’t make it. It was a constant headache. But God is good, and he sent us a miracle in our new handyman. He had that valve replaced and fixed up in like 30 minutes, and now I can wash clothes without the extra stress and anxiety! It feels so good.

Listen, even the greatest of blessings can come in the tiniest of packages and that little fix made my whole week. I actually had a sigh of relief when I put a load in the other day. It’s like I have so much extra time now! What about you? Do you have a cleaning win?
