How would you rate your confidence level?

“My name is [Gabby]. I’m so very, fly, on my, it’s a little bit scary.” That’s my confidence level.

This song resurfaced on my TL recently, and I gotta say I miss cute simple songs like this, that have a level of deeper meaning when you pay attention. If you don’t know that intro, then allow me to introduce you to Keri Hilson’s Pretty Girl Rock. This song dropped and instantly became an anthem for women to be confident in themselves. On the surface, it seems to be a superficial song about looks, but it’s so much more than that.

Ms. Hilson came through and gave women an open door to love themselves, and to show that women of every generation have always been beautiful. Women are constantly judged for their looks, and there’s honestly no winning if you listen to what everyone else calls beautiful. I learned a long time ago that I was going to be confident in who I was, regardless of everyone else, and that has absolutely helped me move forward in my own way. “Pretty as a picture, [and] sweeter than a swisher.” That’s me.

Call it confidence on 1000, but you can’t tell me nothing about me. I know who I am, and I love her just the way she is.
