It’s Week 1 of the One Room Challenge, and I am absolutely doing this space for notta, lol. It is a space in my home though, so it’s not like I would be getting paid anyway. Doing projects in your own home can be tough, since you have access to so many resources but limited time due to you working on projects. So let’s get down to it.
Like I told you in my intro post, I am completely building this space from the ground up: design, plan, budget, and install. Which leads me to what I am calling it: I’ve decided to redo my old office and call it The Guest Studio. Working from home has taught me that my home office is all over the house (lol), so what I really need is a place to store things, namely art supplies, design tools and project samples. On the other hand, we need a more dedicated space for family and friends to sleep when they come over, so we have to create a guest room area that’s simple and relaxing.
Suffice it to say, I have my work cut out for me, and getting things cleaned up and out the room is the very first challenge. So to commemorate this moment, I took some before before pictures. Lol. This is the before that we designers walk into and see all the time, but often doesn’t make it to the public. I mean this space has been the house drop off station for the last year. Old toys, kids crafts, overflow closet area for hubby, the candy stashing station so the little one can’t go on candy binges. That said, it only makes sense that it just is what it is: a whole mess. This is reality people. This is what it really looks like.

And that’s where we are now. Even though I’m building as I go, I’m kind of excited to do this again. It should be a good time. That said, what would you like to see next? An extended before with more info on the design process, or a concept board for the space? Let me know in the comments.
