Well I don’t actually have to think long and hard about this one. This actually happened. A few years back. Right as the pandemic hit. My MacBook just up and died, and I was “lost at sea without a friend” lol.
What was worse is that I was transitioning back to working full-time after my wedding and building my business part-time. Running an interior design side hustle without a computer?? It was struggle bus city. I had to be super inventive and creative, and everything took twice, or even three times, as long to do, but I made it work. Here’s how I worked it out, though.
I still had a phone and tablet, so I used those heavy. I hand-drafted floor plans and beefed up on idea sketches. I downloaded an app on my iPad for mood board creation. I found another app that helped me create 3D and photorealistic images (we weren’t calling everything AI then). I updated my website and blog posts from my phone, and communicated via email, text and DM on it too. It was a relief to finally get my replacement, but I’m gonna do what I gotta do to get the job done. I’m proud of that time, and I even miss some things about it. I’m glad I have the memories. Have you ever had to show up creatively to get or take part in something you wanted?
