What food would you say is your specialty?
Man this is making me think about Thanksgiving. I still need to get a head count and finalize the menu. Not to mention I’ve been cooking way more lately and need to figure out how to fit a turkey in my freezer. But I digress.
The answer: mac & cheese. Yes. I’ve officially graduated from the family gathering sidelines and have solidified myself as having some bomb mac & cheese. Oh yea. I’m that one now. How do I know? I’m glad you asked. It started with my NOLA-born husband, and if you don’t know, everyone in New Orleans is a foodie on some level. He’s started to regularly ask me to make a pan every other month.
Then at the top of the year, as a food request from hubby, I made some for my baby shower. Yes, I had to get someone else to put in the oven for me, but I sat and mixed it just fine at the table. Turns out, the people loved it, and now the girlfriends are randomly asking me to make it. I even caught my dad eyeing it after it came out the oven and I took out that first spoonful (he’s got that South Cackalacky in him and was the go-to maker in the house growing up). So yes, I’m that girl and I made it to the cooking side of mama/auntie-dom. I’ll be adding more recipes to the list, too. Just you wait.
There’s this one veggie-based dish that I’m so close to getting just right. It won’t be long before I got it together fully. Anyway, who makes the best mac & cheese in your family? I wanna know.
