What’s something you want people to know.
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve heard clients, family and friends see something they like online or on social, and then want to go shopping around for a similar look at the lowest price they can find. Does this sound like you at all? If so, I’m going to tell you something, because I love you, and you deserve the truth. You’re being cheap, and you’re going to regret it later.
Your home is not some separate, discontented area that you reside in but live apart from. It is a space that literally affects and represents your wellbeing, personality, and interests. It should be given the same consideration as the clothes you wear, or the makeup and hair products you buy. Shopping for the “best deal” often forces you to settle for pieces that don’t align with your values, like comfort, ease of maintenance, and proper sizing. Also, you’re usually buying a knock-off that isn’t even close to the original quality.
And that’s just in the immediate. In the longterm, that piece usually doesn’t last past about a year or so. Then it’s off to buy another piece. And another and another. Before you know it, you’ve likely spent more than the piece you’re using for your inspiration. And adding up those numbers should give you major pause. My advice: spend the money for what you really want and need. And if you don’t have the money now, save the money so you can spend it on what you really want and need later.
All that said, I can’t make you do nothing you don’t want to do, and I’m not about to guilt trip you about it either. Do what you think is best. Just know that if you do go for quality, you might have a nice vintage piece on your hands in 20 years. 😉
