Describe the most ambitious DIY project you’ve ever taken on.
Wallpaper! And if this was an IG caption, I’d say, “that’s it. That’s the post.”
In 2021, I decided to take part in the spring One Room Challenge. It was nice as far as getting the DIY experience going, but I absolutely found it frustrating and time consuming. I redid my primary bedroom (at the time, I was talking about it in 3rd person because I thought that’s what I needed to do), and it turned out really great in the end. But man, was it a challenge to finish, and wallpaper was the core reason.
So here I am, it’s my first time doing DIY wallpaper, and I’m all pump because it’s supposed to be easy and peel and stick and all that. Well, it was absoLUTEly not easy. First of all, it came in rolls. I had to figure out how to best cut the thing so that the pattern lined up properly. Then the paper was heavy, and I’m little so the length with the weight was sending me. They tell you it’s simple with help, but I call lies! My husband was there most of the time and it was not any easier. And then for the life of us, there were like 3 panels that just would not go up straight, we readjusted like 10 times, got new rolls and everything.
It was a disaster. And talk about a fusstastic! Hubby and I were fussing all up and down that room trying to get this wallpaper in. Honestly, I can’t say if I’d ever do it again. My suggestion is to get somebody else to do it. Or at least get the sheets so that it’s easier to manage, because the rolls are not the move. Lol.
